Understanding of late adulthood period is associated with a number of misunderstandings and stereotypes. They affect the functioning in the sexual sphere, among others. Here, particularly emphasized is the myth of the “natural” and socially expected asexuality in the elderly. This article presents a positive outlook on sexual expression in late adulthood, as an integral part of the development in the life-span perspective. It presents the beliefs that function in society,
and refers them to the results of research on the sexuality of older people, carried out in the last dozen years. The aim of the paper is to outline a realistic picture of the sexual expression of
people after the age of 60–65. The article shows an outlook on sexuality in late adulthood from the perspective of both younger generations and older people themselves, describes the process of changing one’s attitudes towards one’s own sexuality as a result of aging, and points out the difficulties and ways of dealing with them undertaken by the elderly in the area of their sexual
expression.

Learning some novel word, both the child and adult must create its representation in the mind. It involves different levels of language processing. In particular, the phonological representation responsible for the sublexical features of the novel word (associated with the statistical distribution of phonemes and their sequences), plays a crucial role in this process because it refers to basic information about the acquired vocabulary. The aim of this paper is to present how the phonotactic probability affects language processing and learning novel words in native and foreign language. On the basis of reviewed research, practical solutions for education and developmental diagnosis are proposed.

The primary aim of the presented study was to identify the criteria (markers) of adulthood acknowledged by individuals in late adolescence and early adulthood, and to compare them with respect to quantity and quality (content). The second aim was to compare the criteria of adulthood indicated by both age groups with the ones provided by individuals representing the next developmental period, that is, middle adulthood. Furthermore, based on the obtained data a list of criteria of adulthood was compiled allowing for the examination of the indi-
vidual conception and sense of adulthood in adolescents and young adults. The study included 776 participants: 349 late adolescents, 335 young adults, and 92 individuals in their middle adulthood, who answered an open question concerning the conditions that it is necessary to fulfill to become an adult. The findings suggest that: 1) late adolescents focus on the objective criteria of adulthood more often than young adults; 2) on average, late adolescents and young adults define adulthood by indicating a lower number of criteria of adulthood than people in their middle adulthood; 3) compared with individuals in middle adulthood, late adolescents and young adults are less unanimous as to which attributes are important for reaching adulthood; and 4) people in their middle adulthood are found to indicate the quality aspect of fulfilling the roles and responsibilities characteristic of adulthood substantially more often than late adolescents and young adults do.

The research focuses on the phenomenon of motor disabilities, which may have adverse effects on psychosocial development in adolescence. The researched group consisted of 291 adolescent subjects, including 186 with physical disability and 105 non-impaired. The survey was conducted in special education centers for children and adolescents with motor impairments in Poland. The Orientation to Life Questionnaire (SOC-13, Antonovsky, 1995/2005), Health Behavior Questionnaire (Jessor et al., 1989) and a questionnaire concerning various aspects of disability were applied. The results show that the global level of SOC is identical in both groups, but adolescents with motor impairments have a higher level of meaningfulness than their peers. Students with a physical disability with a higher global level of SOC and a higher level of comprehensibility and manageability have more positive beliefs about their school. The  results also show a significant negative relationship between SOC and the intensity of drinking alcohol in girls with motor impairment. The results support the hypothesis that the peer group can be one of the important factors contributing to the SOC in adolescents with motor impairments.

The present-day situation of the woman as a mother confronts the researchers of the humanities and social sciences with questions concerning the nature of her development and functioning. The analysis of literature on the subject includes a great number of research reports on the quality of life of adolescents with disabilities. In the systemic approach, disability is understood as a phenomenon disadvantageous not only to the individual themselves but also to their family. A source of support as well as a point of reference in numerous spheres where a child with a disability functions in different periods of their life is usually the parent, and very often the mother.
The purpose of the research was to present the psychological face of motherhood in the perspective of the process of raising a child with a disability. The analysis covered three areas of the psychological functioning of mothers: the quality of life level, the feeling of self-efficacy and the parenting style.
