Cracow – the Place of Business Tourism

The necessity of innovation in economy, science, organizations, searching for new technologies in the production process, solutions in management, satisfying cultural and social needs of the XXI century people and above all gaining the client, customer causes the essentiality to organize meetings and to promote the achievements in the widest extend. “The innovative thought” endeavors to reach all the above – mentioned areas of life, both in our homeland and abroad. The purpose is to find the potential future clients, customers of the “product” or “service”.

The meetings have already gained their name in the international arena. It is so called: “the industry of meetings” , which refl ects the whole phenomena and processes connected with the organization of meetings in a given area. While “business tourism” is the form of gathering together in one place a lot of people in order to discuss, debate, present opinions and products, share ideas, learn and motivate [Borodako, Berbeka, Niemczyk, Seweryn, 2014: 63].

In the article, I would like to indicate what “the business tourism” is and that Cracow has become an attractive city for organizing those types of meetings not only for the Poles but also for the European and other people from different parts of the world. In recent years, it is mainly due to the building of the convention center ICE, EXPO and the performing and sport hall TAURON ARENA. The cultural heritage of Cracow, the beautiful historical buildings, twenty three academies and universities with the world famous Jagiellonian University and AGH University of Science and Technology, numerous accommodation places contribute to the offer of the city. It can compete with such metropolises and centers as Warsaw, Prague, Florence, Budapest, Munich.
