This paper presents the application of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) in the identification of damage (location, extent) in simple laboratory beam structure. The assessment of the state of a beams relies on the comparison of the structure eigenfrequencies obtained from the systems with additional masses placed in different nodes without knowledge of the natural frequencies of undamaged structures.

FCC metals and alloys undergo at low temperatures three distinct phenomena: dynamic strain ageing, plastic strain induced transformation from the parent phase (γ) to the secondary phase () and evolution of micro-damage. Experimental results indicate the correlation between decreasing damage rate and increasing martensite content. In the present paper the constitutive model of the behaviour of stainless steel applied at cryogenic temperature was described, where the three dissipative phenomena coexist. Also the numerical algorithm was worked out, and numerical simulation of uniaxial tension was performed.

The paper is concerned with the analysis of a model describing the transverse vibrations induced by periodically variable fluid flow. Motion of the system was described by using partial differential equations with periodically variable coefficients. The analysis was performed by Galerkin method and orthogonal polynomials as shape functions. The instability regions were determined by Floquet theory. The influence of several parameters and boundary conditions on the natural frequencies and the instability regions were investigated.

The article presents the contemporary possibilities of applications of micro-and nano-particles of volcanic tuff consisting of alluminosilicates and a series of spatial phases and oxide minerals. Describes examples of existing uses occurring in tuffs feldspars and micas, and the potential application of these materials include in environmental protection, construction, cosmetics, powder metallurgy, and as fillers in plastics. It also provides the possibility of using tuffs in metal alloys strenghtening particles and dispersion. Also presented results of studies of the structure and properties of selected Filipowice tuff.

Execution of a manipulation task of a single object by two robots or welding operation realization when one robot moves an object whereas the other executes welding require continuous coordination of robots’ movements. In the paper basis of generation coordinated trajectories for Cartesian robots are presented. The proposed method relies on complicity introduction, to position controlled system, in the form of a corrective movement. Then static accuracy analysis was carried out for two cases: with force interaction between robots – like in the manipulation task, and without force interaction – a situation which corresponds to welding operations. For the defined form of correctors simulation model was built and the results were confirmed in simulation experiments.

In the present study copper modificated 410L stainless steel was investigated. This steel was fabricated based on powders, by the pressing and sintering. By varying amount of copper and sintering temperature the properties of the 410L stainless steel can be improved. At sintering temperature of 1240°C and at high copper levels the microstructure of steel is predominately martensitic. The sintered density of steel increases as the copper level increases, with a drop-off in density at 4 w/o Cu. It has been shown that stainless steels with higher copper levels have higher hardness and better density in comparison to steels sintered in 1260°C. In general, higher sintering temperature and low copper levels favor the formation of ferrite. An examination of the microstructures of these steels reveals that they are a mixture of ferrite and martensite.
