The need to keep up a constant body temperature forces on man both the conditions of staying as well as limitations of staying time in cold and hot microclimate. The factors influencing the heat transfer between the man and the surroundings are: the metabolic rate, clothing thermal insulation properties and physical parameters of surroundings (air temperature, humidity and velocity as well as heat radiation temperature). This paper deals with conditions and limitations of staying for man in cold microclimate. Results of applicable calculations have been presented graphically.

Kinetic curves for multiple reactions have been determined by the means of the Monte Carlo method. Both reversible and nonreversible parallel, series, series-parallel and autocatalytic reactions have been taken under consideration. The complete consistency between results of stochastic calculations and results obtained with the use of deterministic models has been shown.

In this paper the results of oxidation of alcohols under microwave irradiation using Na12[WZn3(H2O)2][ZnW9O32)2] (ZnPOM) as a catalyst was shown. These reactions were conducted in microwave high-pressure reactor using acetonitryl as organic solvent and 30% hydrogen peroxide as oxidant. Under reaction conditions primary alcohols were oxidized to appropriate acids, secondary alcohols were oxidized to ketones. In case of diols it was found that secondary –OH groups were oxidized in the first instance.

Two methods of isolation of hexabromocyclododecane from fat matrix by using size exclusion chromatography were developed and compared. Standard solutions and salmon tissue extract were investigated. Solvents were chosen for the elution of sample components from the Bio-Beads S-X3 beads. Studies have shown that the use of the SEC technique to isolate HBCD from fat matrix allows effective removal of most of the interfering components.

Biogas is produced in the anaerobic digestion of biomass. It is a mixture of methane (mainly), carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide and water in vapor form. The concentrations of these gases vary depending on the type of fermentation process substrates, which affect the chemical composition of biogas. The paper presents the characteristics of the biomass subjected to anaerobic processing. Also selected technologies of biogas production from different origin – sewage treatment plants, landfill and agricultural are discussed.

Each varying parameter which can contribute to the quality of received applications plays an important role in the processing of polymer materials. The influence of mold temperature on the molded parts’ properties and density was investigated during the optimization of injection molding process parameters of polyamide-6 (PA-6) as well as polyamide-6/montmorillonite (PA-6/MMT) composites. The hardness and Izod notched impact strength were determined for the obtained PA-6-based materials.

The paper presents the healing properties and biological activity of propolis, commonly known as bee glue. Propolis is a natural product collected by bees from buds of plants and bark of trees, then moistened with bee enzymes. Propolis is widely used for general treatment, skin affections, and as an anti-inflammatory agent for ulcers and hard-to-heal wounds. Propolis, due to its properties, is called an antibiotic of the 21st century.

Intensive non-bedding pig farming results in the formation of large quantities of liquid waste in the form of slurry. In areas with high concentration of pig farms where we have to deal with insufficient acreage of arable land there is often a difficulty with management of pig slurry’s surplus. The solution to this problem may become a separation of slurry into solid fraction, rich in phosphorus and liquid fraction, which contains mainly nitrogen and potassium. The paper presents the fractionation of pig slurry using sedimentation and pressurized filtration.
