The paper is a reconstruction of the original theory of prose expanded on by George Saunders during his academic course at the Syracuse University. The notions of the unknown and voice appear to be crucial for understanding the origins of prose – mainly short stories.

The article focuses on demonstrating the importance of structural inequalities and violence within the hierarchical organization of the cultural system in Poland. The text is based on the analysis of the relations between organizers, directors as well as present and future workers, supplemented by statements from institutional staff. As a result, the article describes the fundamental role of violence and inequality, which are inevitable in the current organizational and legal system. The main conclusion is the need for urgent reform of the system as well as for ongoing support for the processes that seek to expand the horizontality of organizational relations and increase the role of processes that democratize governance.

The paper is an attempt to analyze Plato’s allegory of the Cave and Kafka’s parable Before the law in order to understand those texts in a way that emphasizes the relationship encompassing pragmatics and semantics of the cognition (with an emphasis on de se contexts). The suggested definition of Plato’s concept of dialectics should appeal to a special role of the ability to connect the content of a theory being learned with the subject’s position within the theory. According to the suggested reading of Kafka’s work, the key problem of both Joseph K. and the protagonist of Before the law parable is the understanding of one’s own situation and assumptions about oneself. In both cases the occasional and de se aspect of knowledge turns out to be the key aspects.

“Balsamic Garden II. Queer-ecological Workshops for Seniors from Mysłowice and Tychy” is an interdisciplinary project, whose goal was to invite seniors to partake in a conversation about queer culture. The project was based on the ecosystemic approach, as its creators paid special attention to the multilevel relationships, such as those established between the participants and the local ecosystems, or the environment of the engaged institutions and organizations. The present article describes the project goals, undertaken actions as well as developing partnerships, including the collaboration with Kolektyw Śląsk Przegięty (The Queer Silesia Collective). Discussed were the key actions such as botanic walks focused on the observation of the local biodiversity as well as the presentation of The Queer Silesia Collective’s archives and the outcome of the Queer Literary Club. The project - using nature as a space for searching for openness and diversity - highlights the potential of queer ecology as an effective tool in breaking down cultural and social barriers.
