The subject taken in the article is the analysis of innovation in the culture. This leads to the broad description of the development of EU policy in this context. Later in this article the author analyzes both the disadvantages and advantages of existing approaches – in relation to culture as artistic activities and management in this sector.

Implementation of the organizational changes is one of the most emphasized needs of public cultural institutions. One of the instruments increasing effectiveness of management of such institutions are organizational innovations. In this paper on the basis of the literature analysis the most important defi nitions of organizational innovations were presented, as well as the benefits of implementing this type of innovations. In the end some limitations of this research were pointed.

The objective of this paper is to outline the management issues of contemporary museums. The article attempts to identify the place of museums in public space, taking into account changes occurring in this matter. It also identifies possible directions of development of museum institutions, assuming that the priority in their operation, is a task relative to community living here and now, not an imaginary group, described as vague notion of “future generations”.
