This article discusses the modernization of Poland's rail network in 2004-2016. The length of the railway network in the country is decreasing. There is a process of liquidation of lines and suspension of rail transport. Main railway lines are modernized in the country. Modernization consists of replacement of tracks, reconstruction of electrical traction and introduction of modern traffic control and signaling systems (ECTS). Reconstruction of railways of transit importance is included in the European rail system for passenger traffic (AGC) and goods (AGTC). Railway modernization projects are financed by European and national funds. The main sources of funding for transport investments are European funds such as Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment (POIiŚ), Operational Program Eastern Poland (PO PW) and Regional Operational Programs (RPO).

The aim of the paper has been to assess the transport system of the commune (Polish: gmina) of Konopiska (Śląskie voivodeship, southern Poland). As the area which has been analysed is located in the metropolitan area of the city of Częstochowa increasing suburbanization processes can be observed there. They result in constant increase in the number of inhabitants of the commune which is a challenge for its transport system. That is why the road network and public transport system in particular should be modernised and developed. Apart from the main line from Konopiska village to the city of Częstochowa the existing bus network is not well developed and does not provide an attractive alternative to private car. The solutions suggested by the authors of the present article include the development of the bus system with lines also connecting periphery villages and bus stop modification in order to increase the accessibility to public transport. Another proposal  is a new bus line to the nearest railway station

Offshore Wind energy is one of the most dynamically developing sectors of renewable energy sources (RES). The investment process related to the construction of a wind farm at sea is directly connected with the issue of many type of transport. Complicated and demanding technology has a number of logistical problems. From the environmental survey of the location to the wind farm decommissioning stage, the investment requires transportation. New ships are being built, port infrastructure and conditions for existing maritime transport are changing. Conflicts arise with other forms of marine use, as well as new threats - including transport. The paper identifies the most important aspects of transportation problems for the offshore sector, as well as identifies opportunities for Polish industry and Polish ports. Although Poland has no offshore wind farm, the sector is strong, and many companies realizes contracts for the construction, elements of turbines and ships for the installation of wind farms. Planned locations in the area of the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic are determined by logistic conditions, which on the one hand are a threat and on the other a chance for the development of maritime transport. Past research findings indicate that it may completely change the role of the ports of Pomerania. This article identifies ports whose development will depend on future investment.

Main purpose of the study was analysis and assess the potential and usage of public transport in nothern districts of Gdynia, in the context of prospects for the development of the Rapid City Railway. It can serve as an alternative means of public transport which can reduce traffic on currently used roads. This is particularly important issue because of the high sensitivity of the main communication routes of these districts to any traffic impediments that lead to congestion in a large area, with no alternative routes of travel and modes of transport not affected by road traffic. The article presents current state of spatial development and communication accessibility of the this districts of Gdynia, along with analysis and evaluation of the proposed solutions for extending the public railway transport to this area, as well as creating connections with the rest of the city.

The main issue of this article is to systematise current knowledge about the spatial and specific differentation of location steam engines in Poland. They are uniqe examples of historical vehicles run as tourist attraction. These engines are often called "living machines" and represent the highest organizational form of preserving technical heritage. Rail tourism based on the use of steam locomotives as "live exhibits" is part of the general trend in contemporary cultural tourism development. The ongoing modernization of traction has affected Western Europe since the 1950s. However, some of these old vehicles were protected from scrapping and reactivated by railroad enthusiasts, firstly in Great Britain and then all over the Europe. Due to the number of active steam engines in a given country allows for assessing the state of its technical culture. To maintain working steam locomotive needs a lot of conditions including capital, "know-how" and crews with rare skills.

Unfortunately, the level of maintaining technical monuments still differs in Poland from the European norm. The main barrier in the heritage railway are chronic lack of funds from local and national authorities.

This may be the main cause of the exceptionally low number of active steam engines in Poland. That case seems to be at least incomprehensible, especially in Poland, which have one of the most colorful railway history from central european countries.

The article discusses the problem of implementation of the transport policy of Słupsk and Ustka in the light of the assumptions of the agreement on the Duo-city. It was signed by the local government of both cities in 2003. One of the provisions of the agreement is conducting a common transport policy and improving of communication. Apart to presenting the current transport situation, an analysis of selected strategic documents concerning the development of the two cities has been carried out in terms of projects and investments related to the transport policy of Duo-city. In addition, concepts concerning transport development perspectives in the Pomeranian Voivodship and in the country, which may undoubtedly affect the transport situation in Słupsk and Ustka, were also presented. Finally, an attempt was made to identify the most important projects undertaken in this area in both cities for the twelve years of Duo-city operation, as well as those key investments that are still awaiting implementation.
