Research interests concern socio-economic geography and spatial management with particular emphasis on the sub-discipline of transport geography. Detailed research issues focus on the mechanisms of development, transformation and functioning of passenger rail transport, as well as the relationship between spatial, economic and political factors influencing the development of transport systems. Moreover, the scope of scientific interests includes the problems of urban rail transport and the relationship of its functioning with the development of urban centers and urban areas.

The subject of the research undertaken is both in the field of socio-economic geography (with particular emphasis on the sub-discipline of transport geography, but also industrial and tourism geography) and spatial management, as well as the history of technology. Detailed issues of the conducted research focus on the mechanisms of transformation of the Polish transport system and their social consequences, in particular the processes of transport exclusion.
