The influence of official church art, devotional literature, sermons, chants and etc. on folklore and folk religious art were discussed by some researchers. This article explores direct influences of Catholic Church’s teaching about Christ on the conception of Christ in Distress image and representation in folk/peasant culture. Here, interpretation of this image is closely related to the teaching of church, the religious literature and thus scarcely distanced from the official religiosity at all. The popular interpretation of Christ in Distress image was determined by the influence of various church texts on the distinctive peasant worldview.

The main aim of this paper is to outline some specific phenomena in the problematic of immigrants and descendants of immigrants of Yugoslavian origin in Denmark. Due to its marginal importance on both sides (Denmark as well as the former Yugoslavian countries) the topic has been neglected academically.
The focus of this paper is mostly concentrated on the question of belonging and identity of younger generations. Therefore, it contains a summary of the historical, cultural and social background experienced by migrants in their communities. It will also contextualize the main characteristics of specific aspects of everyday life in detail. Further, topics regarding identity with its various aspects will be discussed.
A crucial part is based on the field research itself. The opinions of interviewed migrants open up a discussion about current topics and show unexpected results.
The stress is put on an overview of the relations between the majority Danish society and the young migrants. Danish society possesses certain cultural codes, which can be very difficult to recognize and internalize for foreign individuals.

“We go to Poland, because we’ve got our memories there”: about memory of Ukrainians from Poland in Canada. Fieldwork report

The paper is a report from anthropological fieldwork research carried out in Canada between March and September of 2014. My aim was to recognize the shape and content of social and cultural memory of Ukrainian Canadians, born in Poland, who emigrated to Canada in 1980s. They live in Edmonton and Toronto among other members of Ukrainian diaspora: descendants of Alberta pioneers, interwar period immigrants, displaced persons, Ukrainians from Ukraine and former Yugoslavia. Their memories concerning local Ukrainian history in Poland encounters institutionalized, well designed project of Ukrainian cultural memory in Canada. Actual situation in Ukraine (Euromaydan, Crimea annexation, civil war in the Donbas region) updates the memory and identity questions of Ukrainian diaspora in Canada in general and makes answers even more complicated for the Ukrainians born in Poland.
