Filologiskt smörgåsbord / The Smorgasbord of Scandinavian Philology is an academic journal focused on philological research in Scandinavian culture, including languages, literatures and other texts of Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Icelandic and Faroese heritage.
The journal is a continuation of the publication series 'Filologiskt smörgåsbord', within which four volumes of original research articles have been published so far (2004, 2013, 2018, 2020), and a fifth is being currently prepared as the final volume of the series.
Implied in its title, the main idea of the journal is to celebrate the diversity of topics, research attitudes and theoretical perspectives. With our focus on interdisciplinary and intercultural approaches, we are the forefront of contemporary humanities. However, we also accept more traditional philological papers within the fields of Linguistics, Literary Studies and Translation Studies. We are open to contributions by budding researchers and reviews of Polish and international scientific publications that fit the scope of the journal.
The journal cooperates with the Faculty of Philology of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and is published as an annual series by the Publishing House of the Jagiellonian University in an open access domain. It publishes original academic papers in Nordic languages (Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Icelandic), as well as English, German and Polish. We follow a double-blind peer-review process involving Polish and foreign scholars in their relevant disciplines.
The journal is published in electronic form.
The publication of articles is free of charge.
