Mission and Objectives of the Journal

About the Journal

The journal " Środowisko Mieszkaniowe - Housing Environment" was established in 2003 and is a peer-reviewed publication of a scientific nature, issued in a bilingual form (Polish-English). The publisher of the journal is the Krakow University of Technology, and the editorial office is located in the Department of Housing Environment Design. It's a publication available in both electronic and printed form, registered in the ISSN and e-ISSN systems. It addresses the issues of housing in architectural-urban design within the context of the residential environment, understood as a place of dwelling within the natural and cultural environment.


The "Housing Environment - Środowisko Mieszkaniowe" journal has a scientific character, and all published texts undergo peer review. It includes original works from both Polish and international authors. The publication is intended for academic staff, not only in the field of architecture and urban planning but also for psychologists, sociologists, planners, and other individuals involved in research related to the housing environment, as well as doctoral students, architecture department students, architects, urban planners, and anyone interested in contemporary urban living environments.


The journal also has a digital edition where full texts of all articles published in each issue are available. Articles published in the journal up until 2019 are accessible in open access for free. Starting from 2020, articles published in the journal are covered by a Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-ND). The publication policy of the "Housing Environment - Środowisko Mieszkaniowe" aligns with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) concerning open access to scientific publications.


The scientific journal "Housing Environment - Środowisko Mieszkaniowe" implements ethical principles in the publishing process and addresses any detected misconduct in the publication of scientific works. The ethical standards applied by the editorial team are based on guidelines developed by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).


The scientific journal "Housing Environment - Środowisko Mieszkaniowe" is listed among the journals scored by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN), obtaining 100 points in 2021. The publication has benefited from the "Support for Scientific Journals" program under the regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education.

Mission and Objectives of the Journal

The goal and mission of the journal are to particularly focus on the contemporary housing environment as a crucial area of human activity in today's cities. This topic is extensive and interdisciplinary in the context of scientific research, merging architectural-urban aspects, spatial planning issues, urban sociology, aesthetics, and the development of information technologies related to city management.

 

The journal concentrates on promoting scientific research and creativity in the field of architecture and urban planning by publishing theoretical works, experiments, projects, and realizations that comprehensively address the issues related to shaping the housing environment. The articles in the journal analyze both architectural-spatial aspects, health-related aspects, eco-friendly technological solutions, as well as problems arising from the sociology and psychology of the environment.
