Polish-Persian Cultural Relation
We would like to reflect on the cultural relations and encounters between Polish and Persian culture, between their poetry, prose and drama. We are interested in interactions between visual arts, film, as well as the position and significance of translations. It is worth considering what cultural transfer looks like today, and whether it has in memory the common historical page of World War II, and before that, contacts between Iran and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In the planned issue, we would like to ask how one can read 'persian inspirations' in the poetry of Polish Romanticism, in the literature of modernism and the interwar period. We would like to reflect on the phenomenon of Krzysztof Kieslowski's cinema in Iran, as well as look for traces of inspirations in Polish and Persian films. Is it possible to comparatively describe the Solidarity movement and the Iranian Revolution, and the contemporaries - the Polish Women's Strike and the protests following the death of Mahsa Amini? We are interested in the perspectives of people from different generations, representing a variety of fields (including history, journalism, media studies). The volume will be published in English.
