On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the priestly ordination of Fr. León Dehon (1843-1925), this article highlights the relevant points of the role that the priesthood has in the written work of Dehon and in its charismatic fulfillment in the Congregation he founded. Determining the concept by subjecting it to theological criticism makes the limits of this approach evident, and raises the question whether the priestly language used by Dehon refers to a unique contemplation of the total mystery of Jesus Christ in which the common priesthood of the faithful is indicated as central. The second part examines the consequences for Dehonian identity and presents the concept of „Dehonian-priest” as the expression that best reflects what the „charismatic process” offers today as a unity of vocation, identity and belonging.

The article is intended to answer the question – what is the connection of the priesthood of Jesus Christ with his Heart, as well as with our ministerial „priesthood on design of the Heart of Jesus”. He points to the fact that the new feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Eternal High Priest is thoroughly christological, therefore it was said in the history of the cult of the Heart of Jesus about His priestly Heart, especially in the tradition of the French school of Berullian spirituality, from which the spirituality of L. Dehon grows. All the reflections are based on the inspirations flowing from the texts of the Holy Mass on Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Eternal High Priest, and especially his biblical readings, from where the direction for the formation to the priesthood on design of the Heart of Jesus. These liturgical and biblical texts complement the understanding of the priesthood in the light of Fr. Leon Dehon, and can give it new dynamism and direction for further development.

This article aims to organize theological issues regarding the preaching of the homily. It specifies concrete steps, which determine a correct explanation of mysteries of Jesus’ life for the listeners of the word of God. The study draws attention to the correct interpretation of the kerygmatic message. On this basis, further steps are built such as: right addressing of the message i.e. existential content of the homily, deepening of communicated mystery i.e. didactic content of the homily, expression of a moral recommendation i.e. a parenetic content of the homily and leading to experience of Christ in the liturgy i.e. mistagogical dimension of homily.

Beauty is one of important components of the liturgy. However, it is not limited to the criteria related to aesthetics. It should be taken into account that liturgical celebration is an experience in which salvation and sanctification of a man take place. Therefore, knowing the general criteria of beauty, they should be supplemented with a sense of liturgical celebration and referred to the criterion of truth and even ethics. It cannot be forgotten that at the base of the true beauty of the liturgy is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ which cannot be missed by those who participate in it and care for it. The proper motive for caring for the quality of the liturgy is ultimately love for Christ.

The priesthood of the Old Testament is the reality extremely sophisticated because of the richness of its biblical texts. Starting from the ethymological understanding of being a priest, the author points out to the beginnings of the priesthood in Isreal and shows the origin of the Old Testament priests. Their service was connected with the sanctuary, the sphere of sacrum, sacrifices and the will to achieve the idea of being a saint. The article describes: the cultural and educational role of priests, the issue of the evolution of the priestly authority, the errors of the priests of the Old Testament, the psycho-physical requirements of priests and the essence of the priesthood of the Old Testament.

The Spiritual direction means leading a human being towards Christian perfection. Even though the role of a spiritual director can be entrusted to a lay person, strictly speaking the spiritual directors are understood to be priests considering their priestly ordination, which should serve as the tool towards one’s holiness. Among the relevant objectives of the spiritual direction are the deepening of the relationship with God, taking care of the development of the spiritual life and spiritual discernment. The spiritual direction is an irreplaceable help for all who have the desire for spiritual growth.

„And preach as you go” – this is the call which the apostles heard from Jesus (see Mt 10:7; Mc 16:15). This call comprises not only the elements of mission, but also a mystery of an unusual vocation to follow Jesus and to build a profound relation with Him. In this article the author makes attempt to find similar elements in biblical and extrabiblical tradition concerning Abraham. It turns out that this tradition shows certain similarities to the Gospel narratives concerning life and activity of twelve disciples of Jesus. In this way it constitutes basis to discover in the person of Abraham an apostle – the Apostle of the Book of Genesis.

After Second Vatican Council the pontifical teaching and theology mention the need for building of the Church on the Christ model. Although this postulate seems to be evident, it is quite challenging in terms of theological description and practical realisation. For this reason the problem is worthy of attention. This item discusses the baptismal aspect of the problem, which defines the perspective of the problem in reference to other ecclesiological issues. Baptism accentuates mostly the fact that the Church is based in its existence and mission on the gift of Christ. The Church answers to this gift and remains in strict relation with it. Thus, from the answer given in such a spirit stems the resemblance between the Church and Christ.

The sanctifying task of the Church is carried out in a special way through the celebration of the sacraments. They were established by Jesus Christ and entrusted to the Church as the means by which faith is expressed and strengthen, worship is given to God and human sanctification is accomplished. They also contribute to the introduction, strengthening and external visibility of the ecclesial community (communio ecclesiae). The sacrament of baptism is the foundation of Christian life, the gateway to the other sacraments, and the foundation on which the community of the Church is built. Theological and legal aspects of canons 849-878 of the Code of Canon Law (1983) concern: the meaning and effects of the sacrament of baptism, the baptismal ordinances, the minister and the person receiving the sacrament, the baptismal ordinances, the confirmation and recording of the baptism received.

„Ecclesial being” means nothing other than making a paschal transition: from individual being to communal being. „The new birth from above” is a fruit of the simultaneous action of the Trinity, which in our presentation will be expressed by means of the theorem: „christology conditioned by pneumatology and vice versa”. At the same time, the Spirit forms the body of Christ and Christ sends the Spirit to those who are incorporated into the Church.

Taking into consideration what was said above, Christ cannot be understood as an individual, but as an unique „corporate personality”: „«one» in «many» and «many» in «one»”. In this way, the eschatological identity of Christ, being beyond history, finds its full realization in history. The location of history and eschatology in Christ brings us closer to the christological-pneumatological equilibrium in ecclesiology, so much awaited by Ioannis Zizioulas.

The aim of the article is to reflect on the problem of the possibility of legal regulation of some moral issues. There is still a social debate regarding, among legal aspects of abortion. After a synthetic presentation of the foundation of the right to life, the source of which is the supernatural dignity of a human being, the problem of legal regulation of the analyzed issues was raised. It has been found that source of some of them is in the universally binding natural law, and religious norms strengthen them and provide new motivation. It also pointed to the need for permanent formation of conscience, which cannot be replaced by the law.

Social life is a network of interactions that occur between multiple social entities: individuals, social groups, individuals and social groups. These interactions include not only all dimensions of life, but also their depth and ethical character. Social life is regulated by customs, mores and laws. However, there are no rules that would regulate social life in a perfect way. It is not justice, although it is the basis on which other principles can be based, such as solidarity. Also the law, even if it was just, but used literally, becomes unjust. Therefore, within the functioning of every society, the need for mercy arises. Merciful activity has been, and always will be a thoroughly desirable activity. The point is that human needs that can be satisfied only through the path of mercy are manifold and timeless. The greater the weakness of the individual, the wider the field opens to the works of mercy.

In this study, the author discusses the topic of the religious superior’s ministry in the contemporary conditions of religious life. He pays special attention to the problem of his responsibility towards the community. In doing so, he first discusses the concept of authority in the Church, because the authority associated with the office of the superior is an element of the ecclesiastical authority. Then, on the basis of the analysis of the documents of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, he discusses the legal position of the superior in that Congregation. Further, he analyzes the nature of the religious community because the ministry of the superior is always closely connected with the community. The author emphasizes the fact that the quality of the superior’s ministry affects the quality of the community and, vice versa, the quality of the community affects the quality of the superior’s ministry. Therefore, in the final part of the study the author discusses the issue of responsibility of the superior in the conduct of the religious community, paying special attention to the contemporary circumstances of the Church and society, which pose new challenges for the religious life and the ministry of the superior.

Modern Christians are exposed to many spiritual dangers that touch not only the content of faith, but also affect practice and daily life. It transfers into a misunderstanding of grace and sanctity and consequently of salvation, which is not sought in God, but in man or (secret) knowledge. Pope Francis calls these threats (neo)gnosticism and (neo)pelagianism. This article aims to discuss the latest documents of the Church, especially the apostolic exhortation Gaudete et exultate (April 2018) and the letter of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith Placuit Deo (February 2018). Analyzes are placed in a wider, philosophical context (posthumanism and postmodernity), which allows to properly understood and interpreted the presented phenomena – in respect to the magisterium of the Church.
