Information about the Journal

Mission and goals

“Prace Komisji Kultury Słowian" (Slavonic Culture. Annual Review of the PAU Commission on the Culture of the Slavs) are a scientific yearbook of the Committee on Culture of the Slavs of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. It contains printed articles of the members of the Commission and other scholars, also from abroad. All articles are peer-reviewed, often by foreign researchers. The publications are the result of the authors’ speeches in the Commission’s forum and the discussions related to them. The scientific meetings are devoted to thematic cycles dedicated to the cultures of the Slavic nations. They embrace scholars studying the culture of Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland. The issues concern the specificity of the cultural tradition of the Slavic nations, the cultural changes after 1989, the methodological aspects of research into the particular fields of the culture, the dissimilarity of the religious, the social and the political culture. Prace Komisji Kultury Słowian yearbook has been published since 2001. 

Mission and objectives

The scientific meetings are devoted to thematic cycles dedicated to the cultures of the Slavic nations. They embrace scholars studying the culture of Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland.

The journal was supported by the Minister of Education and Science under the programme "Development of scientific journals" for the years 2023-2024.
