Call for articles for a special issue of "Studia Judaica" on Jewish Łódź: the city, the region and Łódź Ghetto
In commemoration of the final deportations from the Łódź Ghetto to Auschwitz in August 1944, the Polish Association for Jewish Studies’ semi-annual journal Studia Judaica announces a call for articles for a special issue focusing on Jewish Łódź: the city and the region. Of particular interest are submissions offering new perspectives on the study of the Łódź ghetto, which apply new methods and utilize new sources.
Scholars of various disciplines, including history, culture, literature, art, and religious studies, are invited to send proposals for original, previously unpublished scholarly articles, critical editions of primary sources, and book reviews. The deadline for abstracts (500 words in English or Polish) is January 31, 2024. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified within 14 days. Submissions in Polish or English are due by May 31, 2024. Proposals should be sent by email to the secretary of the journal Krzysztof Niweliński at studiajudaica.pl@gmail.com. Our special issue is planned for the second half of 2024.
This is a double-peer reviewed journal. Detailed editorial guidelines can be found on the journal's website under “Instructions for Authors” tab.
This special issue is being prepared in cooperation with the Filip Friedman Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Łódź and the Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN in Warsaw.
The guest editors of the issue are: Natalia Aleksiun, Adam Sitarek, Michał Trębacz and Ewa Wiatr.
