Adulthood of people with intellectual disabilities undergoes institutional and social disadvantage. The reason of it is either the lack of legal system and regulations or inappropriate students’ schooling for working with adults with disabilities. The article shows the reasons of a handicapped adulthood of people with intellectual disabilities

The article discusses some unfavourable mechanisms observed in the process of knowledge building in special education. The critical analysis in the text is based on the following points: methodological mistakes in research; the quality of publications in the discipline of special education, including the ways / practices academic handbooks are written and worked out; reviewing monographs and promotion of scientific works.

The concept of normalization and social role valorization by W. Wolfensberg is widely presented in special education literature. Recently, however, there has appeared an opinion that normalization became outdated and was replaced by social role valorization. The article, analyzing both conceptions, aims to show injustice and criticism of such reasoning.

The article is devoted to the paradigms of current didactics and their implications for special education. The presented analysis is focused on the objectivist didactics trends. In reference to special didactics handbooks the author points out the unsatisfactory stage of development of this field. The thesis statement of the paper is that normative and instructional didactics in teaching children with disabilities strengthens the risk of undesirable phenomena. One of them is negatively understood normalisation

Self-aggressive acts of prisoners have been observed in Polish penitentiary institutions and detention centers not only recently, but for years. Although their number is decreasing and is no longer as spectacular as it used to be, an attack on one’s own body is still perceived as a challenge in the work of prison staff as well as in the holistically understood resocialization. The aim of this paper was to present the threads which relate to and describe this difficult phenomenon. In addition to showing a theoretical background referring to prison self-aggression, we also presented a statistical analysis of self-aggressive acts, including suicide attempts and deaths caused by selfaggressive, as well as the causes of self-aggression among prisoners.
