In the context of the above topic, the author analyzes the empathy as an interdisciplinary and ambiguous phenomenon. Another subject of the analysis is empathy in the light of selected psychological theories, e.g. evolutionary theory, developmental psychology. The main issue, however, is a review of the literature on the subject on the importance of empathy for the professional functioning of a special pedagogue with a student with a selected disability. Research shows that the relationship of a special teacher-student with special educational needs of an empathetic nature is beneficial for both parties. Both of them perceive each other more positively.

In the article the author concerns the problem of threat dignity special educator in the current educational reality. The result of the reform of education in Poland are structural and organizational changes. The special educator is responsible for the preparation and gradual implementation of these changes. The teacher need to be more the professional, have directional and expertise, high level of professional competence and predisposition of his personality. Implementation of professional tasks require special educator reflection and thought-readiness to work with students with special educational needs. In the context of the above issues the author analyzes the formation of personal dignity, the dignity of self-respect and dignity of the professional special educator.

The role of grandparents in the development of a deaf child
The article is empirical. The aim of the research was to answer the question: how do they perceive the roles of grandparents and grandmothers of the deaf grandchildren? The study involved 109 elderly people who are grandmothers (54 people) and grandparents (55 people). The research was exploratory. The analysis of the empirical material allowed to diagnose the reactions of grandparents and grandmothers to the news about the damage to the grandson of their grandson. In addition, older people identified functions performed in the family, as well as the reasons that made it difficult for them to perform the above functions and indicated the consequences of hearing impairment for the child's development. Grandparents and grandmothers also emphasized the need for multidimensional social support, tailored to their capabilities and adapted to the developmental and educational needs of the deaf grandchild.
