Reviewing procedure

Procedure description

  1. The principles of reviewing publications in the journal "Studia Historica Gedanensia" are in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

  2. The editors make a preliminary assessment of the submitted articles. The editors reserve the right to reject articles and shorten texts that do not meet editorial requirements.

  3. Principles of qualification of publications by reviewers:
    1. The editorial office appoints at least two independent critics from outside the unit to review each publication.

    2. Texts in foreign languages are reviewed by at least one critic affiliated to foreign institution other then the institution of the reviewed work’s author.

    3. When submitting materials for review, the editors adheres to the rule of double anonymity (authors and reviewers do not know each other's identities, known as double-blind review).

    4. The review should be in writing and contain explicit conclusion either to admit the article to publication or to refuse it.

    5. When evaluating submitted publications, factors such as the originality of the work, substantive value, source base, literature used, and scholarly integrity should be taken into account.

    6. Authors are informed of the results of the reviews conducted and are given access to them after anonymisation.

    7. The names of reviewers of particular publications/numbers are not reviled; once a year the magazine makes the names of co-operating reviewers public known.
