Abstract

The article is a report on retroconverting the finding aids of the State Archive in Łódź, a process which began in July 2016. The paper presents the reasons for initiating the project, the issues related to the retroconversion process and the attempts made at solving several of these problems. The article analyses the Archive’s material registration system, focusing on its distinctive features which deviate significantly from the standards of other IT systems currently in use.
