Translating Samuel Pufendorfs historical works gives us unique perspective of Sweden as a great power in the Baltic Region. We know Pufendorf as a philosopher, specialist of natural law, or as outstanding jurist. But he was also a historian and his legacy in this fi eld is still valuable, however it is used only fragmentary. Article deals with different aspects of translation of Pufendorfs work on King Charles X Gustav deeds in the period of the Second Northern War (1655–60).

At the end of the 16th century, a bloody civil war between King Sigismund and Duke Karl of Södermanland was waged in the Kingdom of Sweden. Hundreds of exiles fled from Sweden and Finland to the safe harbor of Poland-Lithuania. Some lists of these refugees, created in various circumstances, have been preserved. The paper aims to present results of a research project focused on this issue and in particular pertaining to some documents concerning exiles from the Polish Crown Metrica held in the Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych (The Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw). The summarizing of the Polish Crown Metrica of King Vladislav IV has received a great support. The project of summarizing of the Book MK 180 was financed by the Polish National Science Center (Narodowe Centrum Nauki), decision number DEC-2013/09/B/HS3/03578. The continuation of the project, summarizing of the Books 181–190, was financed by the National Program for the Development of Humanities (Narodowy Program Rozwoju Humanistyki) in 2014–2018.

https://doi.org/10.4467/20843917RC.23.035.18875The students educated in Padua had great influence on the royal chancery of Poland-Lithuania and it dates back to the Middle Ages. These studies offered a possibility of career, and the significance of Padua in the context of royal chancery centres around the preparation of renowned lawyers much needed in the activities of the state. The reconstructing the education of chancery secretaries or notaries requires further research on this large group of several hundred characters.
