https://doi.org/10.4467/23539496IB.12.005.2630This article focuses on the presentation of a concept of corporate social responsibility undertaken by enterprises in selected countries of the European Union. Findings presented in this chapter are based on literature review, including interviews conducted with entrepreneurs, which became the basis for conclusions drawn by the authors. The reports and studies conducted among Polish companies were analyzed to show the degree of CSR understanding and progress made in implementing the principles of social responsibility, including its various tools in the Polish and EU companies. Basing on the analysis presented in the article, it can be stated that social responsibility is a strategic and long-term approach, based on the search for win-win solutions for all stakeholders of the company.

https://doi.org/10.4467/23539496IB.18.031.9404The aim of the paper is to present the impact of innovations on the competitiveness of Polish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and to analyse the trends in implementing innovations in the sector of Polish SMEs in 2012–2015 in eight areas of operation: new products or services, new approach to customer service, expansion into new geographic markets, significant changes of the existing offer, significant organizational changes, changes in technology or method of production of goods or services, marketing innovations, and changes in distribution methods. The method of direct interview was used to collect data from the respondents representing the SME sector. Data have been analysed using correspondence analysis which allowed to build a model summarizing the results of the correspondence between groups of enterprises and types of innovations.
