The article is based on analysis and interpretation of narratives from parents of adult children with intellectual disabilities collected in the biographical study. Applying biographical method allowed to show the meanings parents ascribe to everyday life with their adult children with intellectual disabilities. The research has revealed two important factors influencing adulthood: disability and its consequences and social perception of people with disabilities.

Adulthood of people with intellectual disability persistently remains the area of polemics. The article attempts to answer how adult people with intellectual disabilities, who have been living in their family homes, describe adulthood. Their narratives revealed the families sometimes restrict to facilitate a successful passage into adulthood and establishing autonomy. Parents are often unaware their adult children, if not allowed the transition into adulthood, remain condemned to live their live in institutions or experience loneliness among able – bodied.

The phenomenon of disability stems from the fact that depending on the perspective and its interpretation it can mean different things. In order to give disability a positive meaning, ablebodied people must learn about the world of the disabled. Undeniably, getting into the inner world of the disabled, makes able-bodied people understand disability itself and people who are disabled. It is significant to discover subjective meanings and interpretations of the disabled lives to notice the uniqueness of the interpretation of the world and everyday life. There is a chance that disabled people will be associated in a positive way and their voice will have a real influence on creating their social image. Taking into account the above, the article is on questions put to people with Aspergere syndrome about their views on penitentiary space in a broad sense and its different impressions.

Interpersonal relations with significant Other are extremely important for people with intellec-tual disabilities. That relations construct their adult life because they determine the way of experi-encing and interpreting everyday's difficulties. The aim of the article is to present the result of studies related to people's with moderate intellectual disabilities experiencing and interpreting their relations with significant people. Presented researches were conducted in a qualitative ori-entation which allows using biographical method and narrative interwiew. The analysis of the empirical material shows biographies of people that shows events and situations constructing their lives.

Awareness of the presence of virtual reality results in the use of new media, also in institutions of special education. Preparing teachers, their involvement in the process of education, upbringing and socialization makes young people with mild intellectual disabilities be active participants of the virtual world. New media, which have dominated modern times, did not make students with intellectual disabilities an excluded group, and served as allies in the educational process.
