Firstly, roofs that are currently in existence were analysed in terms of the mechanisms involved in their construction. Then, the possibility of constructing a roof based on the variety of quadruples in which all links are joined with roof panels was investigated. The boundary conditions that have to be fulfilled by such a construction were specified. Ultimately, research models were constructed with the use of construction solutions similar to those applied in buildings currently in existence.

Being the easiest type of projection to understand (for a recipient) perspective, in its historical context, was presented from ancient times until today1. Issues of practice and theory were addressed and examples of precise compliance with the rules and their negation in the 20th century were presented. Contemporary practical applications in architecture were reviewed.

https://doi.org/10.4467/00000000PUA.17.041.7222As part of the research activities, the employees of the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology undertake various issues related to the heritage of architecture. Modernizations, repairs, renovations require specialized skills and knowledge of techniques no longer used in modern construction, almost forgotten. The paper presents the results of research on historical objects realized in cooperation with museums, inventories and computer companies. Gothic vault measurements were made, creating virtual reconstructions with BIM technology.
