https://doi.org/10.4467/2353737XCT.16.103.5502The paper presents a method for monitoring the flow conditions in pipelines in the case of transport of crystallising water slurries forming scale. The method’s core is the ability to calculate the equivalent pipeline diameter under varying flow conditions in industrial practice. The method was successfully tested in the laboratory and employed in an industrial plant.

https://doi.org/10.4467/2353737XCT.16.051.5313A mathematical model of water cooling in a vertical tank with non-uniform initial temperature has been presented in this paper. This kind of process is important in solar installations. Calculation results for various cases comprising, among others, two or three layers of water with different initial process temperatures as well as various combinations of heat resistance of the side wall, the tank bottom and the tank cover, have been given as well.

https://doi.org/10.4467/2353737XCT.15.105.4053The results of calculations of the heat transfer in a horizontal ground heat exchanger are presented. The applied model is based on a one-dimensional equation of the transient heat conduction with an internal heat source. The model was correctly verified by comparison of computational results and experimental measurements presented in literature. Thermal calculations concerning heat transfer in the ground under natural conditions are also presented.

https://doi.org/10.4467/2353737XCT.14.114.1891The need to keep up a constant body temperature forces on man both the conditions of staying as well as limitations of staying time in cold and hot microclimate. The factors influencing the heat transfer between the man and the surroundings are: the metabolic rate, clothing thermal insulation properties and physical parameters of surroundings (air temperature, humidity and velocity as well as heat radiation temperature). This paper deals with conditions and limitations of staying for man in cold microclimate. Results of applicable calculations have been presented graphically.

https://doi.org/10.4467/2353737XCT.16.045.5307The paper presents the results of laboratory tests of both a photovoltaic module formed of 36 multicrystalline silicon cells and a four-module generator, in the form of voltage-current characteristic curves. An analysis of the obtained data is conducted as well.

https://doi.org/10.4467/2353737XCT.16.014.4978The results of the numerical simulation of heat conduction in ground with a horizontal, tubular (parallel pipes) heat exchanger installed are presented in this paper. On the basis of analysis of courses of temperature isolines in the ground, a simplified mathematical heat transfer model in a horizontal ground exchanger was developed. The ground thermal diffusivity was assumed to be a variable of location. On the basis of the model, the temperature profiles in the ground with a heat exchanger installed were determined.

https://doi.org/10.4467/2353737XCT.14.274.3362The paper summarizes the results of tests of separation of oil-in-water emulsions with the application of novel organic deemulsifiers. Fresh and used emulsions of different concentrations were tested. The manipulated variables were: the concentration of oil in the emulsion; the concentration and amount of deemulsifier solution; the temperature. The results of these tests are presented graphically.
