It has been assumed that quality status defines the function and/or the significance of quality in the ORGANIZATION management concept. The carried out studies have demonstrated that the term of quality is most frequently defined in the TQM concept (even though also in this case there are definition disputes). In the remaining concepts of pro-quality management authors refer most often to definitions given by the TQM precursors. The authors describe the role of quality (various approaches) and the fundamental determinants of achieving quality in selected management concepts.

https://doi.org/10.4467/2450114XJJM.16.001.5322Reputation of organizations has become an attractive subject of research, absorbing the efforts of researchers from different fields and representing a major challenge for practitioners. The concept of reputation is dynamic and ambiguous, depending on the research perspective adopted and the recipient expected. This article adopts the understanding of reputation from the perceptual perspective, i.e. perception of achievements of the organization in the eyes of its stakeholders. The reputation of universities and its importance for their development were analysed. The results of research carried out among international experts of the higher education sector showed a substantial degree of respondents’ awareness in terms of the perceived importance of reputation for the development of universities, and also contemporary recognition of reputation as a key category of organizational intangible resources. The conclusions of the research can be applied to strategic management, with a focus on a relatively new trend – reputation management.

https://doi.org/10.4467/2450114XJJM.15.013.4470The article concerns one of the most important detailed risk management issues, namely, the risk related to key persons. In the theoretical part of the article, the author analyses the current status of the risk associated with key persons in the processes of management of companies. The empirical part contains the results of research conducted on a group of 44 service companies listed on the NewConnect. The research conducted brought about cognitive effects involving, inter alia, identification of ways of perception of the risk related to key persons and the expected potential consequences of its occurrence in the companies surveyed. The study primarily used the method of critical review of the literature and analysis of the content of disclosure documents of the surveyed companies.
