Biografia

Luigi Andriani, Junior Professor of Italian and Spanish Linguistics at Hamburg University since October 2022. After having obtained his PhD in Romance and Italian Linguistics at the University of Cambridge with a thesis on the syntax of the dialect of Bari, he worked as a research fellow in the PRIN-project “Transitivity and Argument Structure in Flux” at the University of Naples “Federico II” and postdoctoral researcher in the ERC-funded project “Microcontact” at Utrecht University. He also taught Romance and Italian linguistics as an adjunct lecturer at Cambridge and Oxford Universities and was a visiting scholar at the Italian and Linguistics Departments of New York University and external advisor for NYU – Florence branch. His research interests include the diachronic and synchronic morphosyntax of non-standard Romance languages. He has worked on topics such as differential object marking (DOM), information structure, modifiers in the nominal domain, and temporal and aspectual periphrases.
