Isolation of hexabromocyclododecane from fat matrix using size exclusion chromatography

Abstract

Two methods of isolation of hexabromocyclododecane from fat matrix by using size exclusion chromatography were developed and compared. Standard solutions and salmon tissue extract were investigated. Solvents were chosen for the elution of sample components from the Bio-Beads S-X3 beads. Studies have shown that the use of the SEC technique to isolate HBCD from fat matrix allows effective removal of most of the interfering components.
