1732-8160 Polish Deadjectival Nouns as Nominalized Adverbs Wiland Bartosz author Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań Correspondence to: Bartosz Wiland 29 11 2021 Vol. 16, Issue 4 Volume 16 (2021) 207 227 Copyright © 2021 2021 <p>The traditional description of Polish abstract nouns such as <em>lekko</em><em>ść</em>‘ lightness’or <em>jasno</em><em>ść </em>‘brightness’ holds that they are formed with an adjectival root and the nominalizing suffix -<em>o</em><em>ść</em>. The paper considers an alternative analysis where -<em>o-</em><em>ść </em>is a complex marker and such nominals go through an adverbial stage in their formation, rendering them [[[ A ] Adv ] N ] structures, a possibility suggested by the fact that the -<em>o </em>itself is an adverbial marker.</p> 1 Baker Mark (2003).
