To the main fields of research belong especially: research on sovereign courts and case law; history of constitutional law and legislation; public ius commune and human rights; history of international law; history of penal law and transitional law; history of the relations of Church and State. As a general conclusion it has been assumed, that In the Low Countries legal history is in a quite healthy state, and so are the history of public law and constitutional law.
