The relevance of this topic is connected with the fashion for the use of modernised oriental motifs in modern architecture. Examples of ornamental finishing of mosques of Persia and the Maghreb countries illustrate two opposite approaches to decorating and interior design, which originally developed in mosques from a single prototype – the Arabic hypostyle mosque.
