The earliest of these materials come from the late 19th century. Files and photographic documentation constitute the majority of all materials stored there. These materials are analysed based on the guidelines issued by the Polish Academy of Sciences. So far, the Archive has acquired twelve personal archives, which belonged to: Tadeusz Dobrzeniecki, Izydor Grzeluk, Irena Jakimowicz, Hanna Jędrzejewska, Dariusz Kaczmarzyk, Halina Kamińska-Krassowska, Bronisław Krystall, Stanisław Lorentz, Władysław Marconi, Kazimierz Michałowski, Janina Ruszczycówna and Krystyna Sroczyńska. A distinctive feature of these personal archives is their distribution (both among the various sections of the National Museum in Warsaw and other institutions). They constitute a valuable source of information during archival research, research on the history of the National Museum in Warsaw and other Polish museums, art history and critique, conservation of art and archaeology. They contain valuable information complementing the Museum’s own file fonds.
