	Both social work and mediation are disciplines in the process of dynamic development and professionalization. The aim of the article is to reflect on the place, role and possible application of mediation in the area of social work in Poland. At first, possible relations between social work and mediation are presented. Secondly, types of mediation possibly useful in social work are described. Then, advantages of implementation of elements of mediation (referred to as ‘mediation approach’) in social work are discussed.
