Material for analysis is represented by speech contexts of blogs and Internet forums, as well as spoken language of the Russians and Poles. Presentation of consolation as a speech act is based on speech acts distinction functioning in linguistics. Consequently consolation was classified as belonging to the group of non-binding directives with particular emphasis on the features of linguistic politeness. Besides we distinguished different contextual variants of consolation as a speech act using their implicit lexical exponents.
