Challenging the position of those who see an irremovable contradiction between a realistic approach and a school of thinking putting the idea of interpretation in the first line, it tries to explain in what sense – today, after the linguistic turn – interpretation can be considered a form of realism. It highlights a dispute between realists and antirealists, stressing the importance of a whole controversy for shift ing perspectives in the domain of political science and political thinking. Addressing the problem of interpretation and understanding it attempts to emphasize the role of hermeneutics as a model for reestablishing the influence of critical rationality in a confused world, where a notion of reality itself seems to be slipping away. Pointing to the notion of the linguistic turn and the classical Gadamerian idea of a hermeneutic experience it also tries to cast light on the delusions of dogmatic empiricism.
