It comprised 45 districts covering the provinces of Lviv, Stanislawow and Tarnopol. In the early thirties of the 20th c. the Lviv School District occupied 16% of the territory of the Second Republic of Poland, which was inhabited by as much as 19% of the entire Polish population. In this area there operated 22% of teacher training schools, 18% of elementary schools, 17% of secondary schools, 14% of vocational schools and 12% of kindergartens. Compared to the rest of the Polish territories, the Lviv school district was characterized by an increase in the number of secondary schools and a dynamic growth of private education. In the district, e.g. in the school year 1937/1938, there operated 23 out of the total of 57 schools with other than Polish language of instruction.
