Kościałkowski – is only a work that discusses new issue or presents new arguments for a thesis being subject to scientific discussion. The requirement of newness entails the requirement of erudition – in the choice of research topic and proposed solution of a problem – knowledge of the problem’s history. Simply – knowledge in the history of historiography, perceiving historiography as testimony to the time when it was created, analysis of cultural, ideological and political factors, which were decisive in acceptance or rejection of theses propagated in science. For this reason “history of a problem” is always an inherent part of its solution.
