In recent years more attention was paid to the needs of people with disabilities, including their independent use of public transport. Easy access to transport and increased mobility are important factors in reducing discrimination of this group. Better chance to move around makes it easier to find jobs, to access to education, etc. However, often adapted transport is not fully taken into account in planning, designing and implementing policies related to transport in different countries. Available transport is especially important for people with disabilities, but it also brings benefits for other groups of passengers. From customized infrastructure can also benefit the elderly, mothers with strollers, etc. However, despite the introduction of many solutions and huge progress, there is still much to be done. This article raises the subject of the availability of public transport for disabled people and presents selected examples of good practices from European countries.
