International competitiveness characterizes not only companies, but regions and countries as well. International competitiveness of countries is often studied multidimensionally. One of such dimensions is energy management. The following study is an attempt to determine the theoretical relationship between energy security and country’s competitiveness. To achieve this purpose, a critical review of the literature has been conducted using analysis and logic synthesis. The leading research topic concerns energy security. Theoretical analysis shows the multifarious relationship between energy security and international competitiveness. Additionaly, a preliminary empirical study which confirms theoretical assumptions has also been included.
