Asemantic (monosyllabic) speech fragments are analyzed aurally with simultaneous observation of oscillograms and spectrograms. New data concerning reduction and sound contraction in spontaneous Russian have been obtained. The results of the research allow formulating hypotheses concerning the recognition of spontaneous speech that should be verifi ed in perceptual experiments.
