Research shows that in this text the author remains both: a part of the country and “the alien’’. He treats his return to Poland as an opportunity to confront the memories and present times. Roth’s comments created during the journey are not only an expression of admiration for the independent country, but they also bring a bitter reflection on anti-Semitism, social exclusion or political sluggishness.
