For portfolio investment, these factors are considered to be more difficult to define and less binding because of the speculative character of the capital. The paper attempts to define the factors attracting capital in the form of portfolio investments to Poland in the years 2000–2015, with particular emphasis on the period of the international financial crisis. It is important to compare the effects of the inflow of portfolio investments to the Polish market to foreign direct investment in order to specify what actions should be undertaken to increase the attractiveness of the Polish market for portfolio investment.
