TY - JOUR TI - The External Border of the European Union – the Border of Sovereignty, Freedom and Security AU - Tomaszycki, Krzysztof TI - The External Border of the European Union – the Border of Sovereignty, Freedom and Security AB - In current international realities, sovereignty is the basis for the existence and multifaceted functioning of individual countries. The European Union is a union of sovereign states that cooperate with each other, in political, economic, economic and legal terms that jointly protect their external borders. The protection of the EU’s external borders guarantees the security and freedom of citizens living within its borders. However, threats resulting from illegal migration can disturb this state, even deprive of a sense of security. On the other hand, migrants expect them to find “their place to live” in the European Union. Reconciling these divergent efforts requires protection of the EU and its borders. EU bodies, institutions and agencies are committed to ensuring respect for fundamental rights and guaranteeing security.
