%X The main aim of the article was to indicate the dependency between the economic crisis on the global market and the increasing number of intellectual property rights infringements. The analysis of the intellectual property rights infringements on the European market and the analysis of the information published in the Report on the EU enforcement of intellectual property rights confirmed that the protection of IPR is a cornerstone of the EU economy and a key driver of its economic growth. Effective IPR enforcement in the age of the economic crisis is particulary essential for health and safety. Certain counterfeited products, such as foodstuffs, body-care articles and children’s toys, which are produced in an unregulated environment can pose a serious threat to citizens.
