Over time, the demand for showing the body grew: the wider knowledge interested medics and artists, later also viewers unrelated to medical issues. The article presents the history of the development of anatomical studies in the context of illustrations and other objects visualizing human structure. Examples of contemporary references to the tradition of anatomical illustrations in art are also presented.
