%X The article presents the history of the Lublin State Archives Branch in Kraśnik from the moment of its foundation (1 August 1955) until the present time. In the first place, the article discusses the issues connected with the changes in the archival law which resulted in the change of the status of the Branch in Kraśnik several times. Particularly significant changes took place in the years 1976, 1979, and 1983 when the archives in Kraśnik started functioning as a Branch of the State Archives in Lublin. This state continues to this day. The next part of the article describes the holdings of the Branch in Kraśnik which consists of 336 archival fonds (as of 31 December 2017). The chronological scope of the materials gathered in the Kraśnik Archives comprises the years 1796–2016. The records produced after 1945 constitute the main part of the Archives. Presenting the history of the Lublin State Archives Branch in Kraśnik, the author also presented the portraits of the most distinguished archivists working in the above mentioned period.
