Mackler’s film entitled “Open Dialog. The Alternative Finnish Approach to Healing Psychosis” is based on a series of interviews with creators, practitioners and promoters of the Open Dialog Approach. It presents the main assumptions and therapeutic strategies and techniques used in this method. Open Dialog is based on conducting open therapeutic meetings involving professionals, family members and close relatives within the social network. Open dialogue is guided by the principles of immediate help, social network perspective,flexibility and mobility, responsibility, psychological continuity, tolerance of uncertainty and dialogism. Neuroleptic drugs are used to a small extent. The method is popular in Western Lapland and achieves enormous therapeutic success. There are attempts of implement therapeutic strategies based on the Open Dialogue in some Polish centers.
