He shows Joas’s point of view on ideas of how to maintain a long-term peace which appeared since the 18th century, and presents the scholar’s proposal concerning the close analysis of the mythology of violence. The article also describes Joas’s theory of the emergence of values in the context of violence, the origins of human rights and the use of the narrative as a way of overcoming trauma.
