Their readout is a very valuable source of information, as it supports the reconstruction process conducted on the basis of traditional analytical methods. Owing to devices such as CDR Bosch or ADW Axes, it is simple and fast because the communication between the reading device and the controller memory takes place automatically via a standard on-board diagnostic connection (OBD), or, if it is necessary to dismantle the controller from the vehicle, via an additional communication interface. The examination conducted in this way does not require any complicated preparations. However, there is still a large group of older vehicles which, despite gathering information on decelerations or accelerations during a collision, do not provide the possibility of reading them out. The article proposes an approach to obtaining this type of data, their interpretation and use in the reconstruction process.
