She also shows the problematic nature of childhood seen in the context of hope, pointing out that hope is not automatically assigned to this period of human life. Like other human dispositions, it needs to be supported in its development. Because of the role that language plays in cognition, understanding and interpreting the world, she posits the need to reflect on the language used by early childhood education teachers. She proposes that this reflection should take into account the characteristics of the ‘language of hope’ she formulates.
