The issue was developed on the basis of a review of pedagogical literature, theoretical approaches and methodological proposals, described both by the first and contemporary promoters of Froebel’s pedagogical ideas. The past and the present became the areas of analysis: Froebel’s pedagogical biography, the vision of the child, the role of the teacher, the understanding of upbringing, the importance of play, the use of teaching gifts set, the essence of education.
